卧龙海海拔2215米，深22米。小巧玲珑的卧龙海是蓝色湖泊典型的代表，极浓重的蓝色醉人心田。湖面水波不兴，宁静详和，像一块光滑平整、晶莹剔透的蓝宝石。 相传古时候，附近黑水河中的黑龙。每年都要九寨百姓供奉九十九天方才降水。白龙江的白龙同情百姓，欲给九寨送去白龙江水，遭到黑龙阻挠，二龙争斗，白龙体力不支沉入湖中，万山之神赶来降服了黑龙。然而白龙而力再回白龙江，日久便化为长卧湖底的一条黄龙。人们怀念它，就叫此海卧龙海。
